Artist's Statement:

You might say that I’m a frustrated architect. Exploring strong forms with a variety of techniques is my main focus – Throwing, altering, texturing and hand building. My glazes are used to emphasize the structure of my pieces not to decorate in the tradition sense.

Inspiration comes from several sources. As with many potters I am strongly influenced by timeless aesthetic of Asian ceramics. I also admire the work of the Arts and Crafts period in America. You can see this in some of my vases, pitchers and teapots. Especially when they are fired with the matte green glaze that I often use.

Strong yet simple functional forms are what I try to create.
