Artist's Statement:
I was a textile artist for close to 25 years and, although I loved working with all the wonderful colors and
textures, I was open to a new form of expression. I am very new to ceramics but I found it to be an almost instant 'fit'.
I work in a white earthenware with little color. I frequently use a small amount of black in a graphic hard edge line or shape to accentuate the form. My work is clean and simple and repetitive. Some of my forms are castand some are hand built. I like to see the same shape repeated so that the simple shape takes on a new life in the whole.
I love working with the clay because it is so forgiving but it definitely has a life of its own. The many hours in the studio...making mistake...repairing...re-examining...the process is what moves me. My thoughts slide over a newly finished piece only to give birth to a new thought or expression.
